Beyond Interactive lays off 60

Published on .

Beyond Interactive, an Ann Arbor, Mich.-based interactive agency owned by Grey Advertising, laid off 15% of its staff, or about 60 people from the company's New York, Ann Arbor and San Francisco offices. The majority of the layoffs were junior-level account people, said Jonn Behrman, CEO, who attributed the layoffs to "a slow-down in new business.'' "It's pretty simple,'' he added. "It was a re-adjustment; it's the post-dot-com era. We feel very good about where we are going forward.'' Beyond.com lists a number of dot-com clients on its Web site, including PlanetRx, job site Kforce.com, ClassMates.com, ThirdAge.com and giftpoint.com. The drop in ad spending by dot-coms has forced several i-shops to lay off staffers over the last few months.
