The Audit Bureau of Circulations (http://www.accessabc.com) on Oct. 1 will begin beta testing software to audit traffic at print publishers' Web sites. CondeNet, the Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times' TimesFax and The Wall Street Journal's Adfinder are participating in the test, which will use Market Arts Software's WebTrack tool (http://www.webtrack.com).
Time Warner launched DreamShop, an online shopping service, on its Pathfinder World Wide Web site (http://www.pathfinder.com). DreamShop features merchandise from Eddie Bauer, Spiegel, Bombay Company and Sharper Image, as well as Time Warner's Viewer's Edge and Book-of-the-Month. Current inventory is 700 products. Most of the merchants participating had signed on with Time Warner's Catalog 1 TV shopping service, which was shelved.
Hachette Filipacchi Magazines' Car and Driver, Elle and George will open on the World Wide Web Sept. 26. Car and Driver (http://www.caranddriver.com) offers information on 200 new vehicles, photos, and weekly road tests. Elle (http://www.ellemag.com) will feature shopping guides, model memorabilia and a numerology area, while George (http://www.georgemag.com) offers political-theme content. Charter ad rates are $5,000 per month per publication.
