NBC in February announced a development deal with Scott Zakarin and Troy Bolotnick, creators of "The Spot" (http://www.thespot.com). But now the agreement, which would have created several "Spot"-like Web sites for NBC, has apparently fallen apart. An NBC spokesman would only say that the deal is off. What happened? Advertising Age sister magazine Electronic Media speculates the deal's demise came when NBC's Jamie McDermott, who helped negotiate the pact, left the peacock network.

Looking for work? Seagram Beverage Co. wants to help. Though it doesn't explicitly suggest Chivas Regal is the best medicine, it's offering the Career Toolbox, a CD-ROM and Web site (http://www.careertoolbox.com) that dispenses advice on jobhunting and starting a business. The multimedia career therapist, created by Strategic Interactive Group, will be backed by an ad campaign starting in July.
