INTERACTIVE: ROADKILL: BITS & BYTES: KOTEX OFFERS THE GOODS ON A DELICATE SUBJECT

Published on .

It's hard not to rag on a site with a name like Kotex.com. Laugh if you will, but Kotex.com could be a comfortable space for shy teens to research questions they're too scared to ask. It's also Kimberly-Clark's testament to 125 years of menstrual products (outlined in the site's guide to menstrual gear, hiply titled "The Goods").

Good samaritan rescues

Sprite from Net pirates

For years, sprite.com was held by an Internet domain "pirate" who tried to sell the name to Coca-Cola Co. Canadian Philip Alexander Gordon noticed that the domain had expired recently for non-payment of a renewal fee. So he registered it himself, not for his own profit, but to give it to the rightful owner-Coca Cola.

Given the recent six-figure sales of non-trademark domains such as internet.com, one might think Coke would give him a nice reward, but it turns out all Mr. Gordon got were some T-shirts. He's not done yet. If he has his way, Mr. Gordon will be rescuing more "hostages" than Steven Seagal.
