Creative Chief Bob Scarpelli Adds Chairman to Duties

NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Omnicom Group has named Interbrand Group Chairman-CEO Chuck Brymer to succeed DDB Worldwide president-CEO Ken Kaess, who died last week following a battle with cancer.
Chuck Brymer has been named president-CEO of DDB.

Mr. Brymer, 46, will become president-CEO of the global agency network, according to a statement from the company. Omnicom also added the role of chairman to Chief Creative Officer Bob Scarpelli's responsibilities.

As part of the shuffle, current Chairman Keith Reinhard, who surrendered day-to-day responsibilities for DDB to Mr. Kaess in 2001, will become chairman emeritus. He will keep an office at DDB.

Mr. Kaess died last Monday at the age of 51.

Mr. Brymer joined brand identity firm Interbrand in 1985 from BBDO, New York, also part of Omnicom. He helped it grow to more than 30 offices serving marketers in 80 countries. He became chairman-CEO in 1994. Clients there include AT&T, British Airways and Samsung. With Business Week magazine, he also helped create an annual ranking of world's greatest brands.

Mr. Brymer will be replaced by Jez Frampton, CEO of Interbrand London.
