In conjunction with the Advertising Age Best of 1999 competition, entries gathered by Ad Age licensees and affiliated marketing publications abroad also were judged against other entries from their respective countries.

The participating publications include: International Advertising, China; Revista Publicidad & Mercadeo, Colombia; Mercado, Dominican Republic; kreativ, Hungary; Media i Marketing Polska, Poland; briefing, Portugal; Resume, Sweden; and Marketing Turkiye, Turkey.

The judges for the international component of the Best competition were: Joe Cappo, senior VP-international, Crain Communications Inc., which is the publisher of Advertising Age, and world president of the International Ad-vertising Association; Jerome Juska, professor of international advertising at Northwestern University and president of Millennium Management; and Daniel M. O'Brien, global advertising director of Andersen Consulting.

Here are the country-by-country winners in each media category, with the advertiser, entry and ad vertising agency or other entrant cited.
