Internet ad revenue reached $1.3 billion for the first nine months of 1998, up 128% from a year earlier, and is expected to near $2 billion for the year, according to a report released today by the Internet Advertising Bureau. Online ad revenue for the third quarter of 1998 more than doubled to $491 million, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers, which produced the revenue report for the IAB. Demonstrating that even more traditional marketers are investing in the Web, the top online advertising spenders were consumer-related (27%), computing (24%), financial services (16%), telecom (11%) and new media (7%).
