Internet key for new product launches

Published on .

Increasing numbers of companies will use the Internet to launch new products during the next five to 10 years, according to a new media report from the Stockholm market research organization Projector New Media. The PNM report surveyed 15,000 Internet surfers, of which 90% said that they browsed through the ads on the Internet, stopping when well-known brands appeared.

Significantly, while only 14% felt that the Internet was safe when giving their credit card numbers to buy goods, and 58% said the Net was unsafe for this purpose, six out of 10 people interviewed confirmed they had bought at least one product via the Internet since July 1996. A heavyweight 90% said that, since having online access, their time spent watching public and commercial TV had fallen on average by 34%. The report noted that 40% of Swedish homes are connected to the Internet.
