K-III Communications Corp., parent company of Seventeen, New York and Soap Opera Digest, is expected kick off its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday. Primary owner Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. is selling a minority portion of its controlling interest in the company in a bid to raise about $180 million. KKR will still control about 82% of the company's stock.
