Iridium, the satellite global telephone service from a consortium led by Motorola, will launch a much-bigger-than-expected $140 million global introductory campaign soon, Vice Chairman-CEO Ed Staiano told a National Press Club audience in Washington. The campaign was previously believed to be a $50 million effort. Mr. Staiano said spending was increased because of the excellent response to test ads running in Japan. Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York, won the assignment last fall. Service will launch in September.
