ISL buys U.S. interactive sports service

LUCERNE, Switz. -- Sports event media and marketing company ISL Worldwide here has acquired a majority stake in En-Linea, a California-based firm that specializes in developing and marketing interactive digitized sports video and media applications.

En-Linea has two main lines of business. First, it develops, owns and/or markets proprietary sports-related software for distribution through the Internet, broadcast or multi-media channels. Second, it develops and markets the Web sites primarily for sports governing bodies, including FIFA On-line, CONMEBOL NET, AFC NET, AFC NET and US SOCCER On-line. These sites provide worldwide information services to fans, players, coaches, officials, sponsors and the media.

En-Linea has offices in Santa Monica, Calif., Washington, D.C., Caracas and Barcelona.

Daniel Beauvois, managing director for new media at ISL parent ISSM (International Sports Media & Markets Group), says of the purchase: "The acquisition of EnLinea allows us to combine cutting-edge interactive video applications with our marketing, TV, licensing and other rights and services.''
