Italian food marketer looks to seduce Indian palates

NEWDELHI -- Italian food marketer Carexcoisin negotiations to open its Albagro chain of restaurants in India.

The $93 million Carexco is keen to enter India through franchise arrangements with local marketers to introduce traditional Italian fare in a market whose favourite foreign food is Chinese.

A country with varied cuisine marked by a preference for oily foods,India has attracted restaurant chains like Domino's Pizza, KFC, Pizza Hut, Wimpy, McDonald's and TGI Friday's ever since the domestic economy was thrown open to foreign investment.
