CHICAGO-The Sales & Marketing Executives of Chicago has named Jan Jaben, editor of Advertising Age's Business Marketing, its Communicator of the Year. The group cited Ms. Jaben for her noteworthy efforts to advance marketing knowledge to the business-to-business community.

The Chicago group is a professional association of northeastern Illinois business managers, entrepreneurs and educators. The association is an affiliate of Sales & Marketing Executives International, with 13,000 members in more than 80 cities around the world.

Business Marketing Ad Director William Furlong hailed Ms. Jaben as "a real advocate for the business-to-business community who has demonstrated not only a strong sense of the strategic implications of marketing, but also understands the budgetary needs and constraints facing marketers."

Ms. Jaben will be honored at a dinner at the Rosewood, Rosemont, Ill., on Nov. 3.
