NBC won Monday night's 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. (ET) time slot in Nielsen's overnight metered market ratings. The hour, which included back-to-back half-hour episodes of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" bracketing a TV premiere of Michael Jackson's
new music video, averaged a 9.8 Nielsen rating--a 9.2 for the first half hour and a 10.3 for the second half hour. That beat the 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. performance of the other broadcast networks. CBS averaged a 9.1 rating, ABC a 7.2 and Fox a 4.5. NBC executives did not have a specific rating available for the Michael Jackson video, which was presented as program fare, a la MTV.
