Automaker Licenses New Upscale Cologne for Men

DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- Ford Motor Co.'s Jaguar Cars North America licensed its name to an upscale men's cologne.

The Beanstalk Group, New York, acquired by Ford last June, inked the licensing deal with Switzerland's Parfums Jaguar SA.

cologne's exclusive U.S. retailer, unfurled a large outdoor banner on its Manhattan store on 59th Street to promote the brand.

The deal is Beanstalk's first perfume deal for Ford, which will get an undisclosed percentage of royalties from the product's sales. David Milch, vice president of business development for Beanstalk, said he could see a similar product for Ford's high-end Aston Martin or niche Thunderbird car brands.

Jaguar cologne, which retails here for between $40 and $90, is also being sold at Harrad's, London.

Venex, Spring Lake Heights, N.J., is the U.S. distributor.
