Japan's SKYperfecTV! hits one million members

TOKYO--SKYPerfecTV! reached one million subscribers on Dec. 27, 1998. The company started its service, in October, 1996, as PerfecTV!, then Japan's first CS (communication satellite) digital broadcaster. Last May 1, PerfecTV! and JSkyB merged and became SKYPerfecTV!. By regions, Miyazaki prefecture in Kyushu marked the highest household penetration at 3.86%, compared to Tokyo's 1.36% and Osaka's 1.20%. The company provides more than 150 TV channels as well as 100 digital radio channels.
