Japanese brewer Asahi marches into China

Published on .

BEIJING -- Asahi Beer of Japan has marched into China hard on the heels of other foreign beer brands such as Budweiser, Heineken and San Miguel. Beer producers are attracted to the country because of its huge population of 1.2 billion people.

Ads from the Japanese brewer running in Beijing newspapers claim: "Asahi beer is brewed from quality ingredients by using our pure cultured yeast''. The Asahi product is brewed by a Sino-Japanese joint venture.

Following the influx of foreign brewers, China is now one of the world's largest beer producers.
