HONG KONG - Karen Jim has joined Grey Interactive (Gi) in Hong Kong as general manager to succeed Vivian Lau, who will join SmarTone Communications as director of broadband services later this month.

During Ms. Lau's four-year tenure at Grey, the agency earned a reputation as one of Hong Kong's leading interactive agencies. Last spring, Viveca Chan, chairman-CEO of Grey Hong Kong and China, created G-edge.com, a group of companies including Grey Interactive and, since last April, Beyond Interactive, Grey's global online sales division.

Previously, Ms. Jim was the e-business marketing manager of IBM Corp. in greater China, before which she held various technology and marketing roles at the U.S. computer giant, including product manager, system engineer and software developer at IBM Canada Laboratory. Before joining IBM, she was senior programmer, responsible for banking systems development at HSBC in Hong Kong and Toronto Dominion Bank in Canada.
