JOHNSON STEERS CRAIN CIRCULATION

DETROIT-Crain Communications Inc. has promoted Peter Johnson to corporate circulation director, overseeing circulation and fulfillment operations for the publisher of 25 magazines.

Mr. Johnson, 35, moves from corporate facilities director and succeeds Bill Strong, 62, who retired as VP-circulation after a 30-year career with Crain.

Mr. Strong is moving to the Chicago area, where he plans to consult in the areas of postal affairs, publication distribution, and circulation and fulfillment management.

Crain's consumer, business and trade publications include Advertising Age, Automotive News, AutoWeek, Business Insurance and business weeklies in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit and New York.
