Has Michael Mania reached its zenith in Birmingham, Ala.? When Michael Jordan, former National Basketball Association superstar turned Major League Baseball wanna-be, first took the field for the minor league Birmingham Barons, locals flocked to their 10,000-seat stadium to see him play. Yet while attendance remains higher on average than last year (5,800 vs. 4,000), the fascination seems to be wearing off. But don't look for a Jordan poster night or other promotion to pump up attendance. "Even if we wanted to, we'd have to go through a thousand lawyers to set it up," said a Barons spokesman.
