JUPITER REPORTS LIMITED WEB SERVICES USE IN NEXT YEAR

Published on .

(Aug. 30, 2001) -- Research and analysis company Jupiter Media Metrix, New York, said a new study shows that in the next year only 16% of U.S. companies will use Web services technology software, which enables application-to-application collaboration over the Internet.

According to Jupiter, this means that the so-called Web services revolution will not begin to affect companies' broader business decisions for another 18 to 24 months, though Jupiter analysts expect Web services software to be a "valuable driver for cutting internal applications costs" during the medium-term. -- Adrienne Mand
