J. Walter Thompson Co., as expected, acquired San Francisco agency Tonic 360. The agency, along with JWT
's New York office, jointly won the $100 million Sun Microsystems advertising account. A JWT spokesman said there are "no plans at the moment to make [Tonic 360] the general agency in San Francisco." JWT's San Francisco office has 85 employees servicing clients that include Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and Siemens. Recently, the agency's western headquarters were shifted to Los Angeles from San Francisco under Peter Stranger, CEO of JWT West.
