JWT gets Lincoln's used cars

J. Walter Thompson Co., Detroit, will handle advertising for Ford Motor Co.'s Lincoln brand's first entry in the growing used-car arena. Ads for the off-lease Town Cars, Continentals and Mark VIIIs will break in late May in test markets: Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, St. Louis and Tampa/Clearwater/St. Petersburg. JWT, agency for the Ford Division, also handles Ford Automotive Operations' remarketing efforts. Young & Rubicam handles Lincoln and Mercury and Red Carpet Leasing. Andy McKinnon, Lincoln-Mercury's Red Carpet Lease manager, said it hasn't been decided whether JWT will handle the account if the program becomes national.
