JWT names new head of Germany

FRANKFURT -- Peter Erzberger, a former chairman of GGK Europe, has been named the new chief executive of J. Walter Thompson, Germany. He will join the agency's Frankfurt office on July 1, when he succeeds Michael Madel, who was promoted in October to president of JWT Europe, Middle East and Africa.Erzberger is currently general manager of marketing at Scholz & Friends, Hamburg, and is responsible for the Tchibo and Reemsta business.

A Swiss citizen with a Brazilian passport, Erzberger worked for Switzerland-based GGK from 1972. In 1973 he founded a GGK subsidiary in Brazil, which he left 13 years later to become head of London- based GGK Europe between 1986 and 1989. After two years as a freelance marketing consultant, he joined Scholz & Friends.

JWT also announced that Joe Nutt, formerly managing director of JWT, Frankfurt, is promoted to managing director of JWT, Hamburg, and European director-in-charge on Shell.
