JWT wins $8 million launch of pan-Euro Web bank

LONDON--J. Walter Thompson Co., London, has scooped the $5 millionlaunch of first-e, which claims to be the first pan-European Internet bank.

Going live at the end of September, the branchless bank will enable customers to manage their financial affairs online. "This is the future ofconsumer marketing and we are delighted to be at the front of it," saysStephen Carter, CEO of JWT, London.

JWT will work closely with Equation, which designed the Web site. Media will be handled by Media Insight.

Based in Dublin, first-e is backed by Intel Corp., Apax Partners and Metro,Germany's biggest supermarket. The bank is headed by Xavier Azalbert.
