Keith E. Crain named chairman of Crain Communications Inc.

DETROIT -- The Crain board of directors has named Keith E. Crain chairman of Crain Communications Inc. He was previously vice chairman.

Keith Crain becomes the third chairman in the company's 81-year history. Founder G.D. Crain, Jr. served until 1973, followed by his wife, Gertrude R. Crain. Gertrude Crain passed away in July, 1996. Rance Crain continues as company president. He is also editor in chief of Advertising Age.

The company publishes 30 business, trade and consumer publications, including Advertising Age and Automotive News, and operates two radio stations from 16 office worldwide.
