Mr. Merrihue, who started with Initiative earlier this week, was previously Kellogg's market development manager for Europe and director of global cereal innovation for the Frosties brand.
At Ad Age International's "Marketing 2020" conference last June, he spoke out on the lack of global media solutions offered by existing networks. "We use global creative networks, but if I tried to set up a global pitch [for media], I wouldn't know who to go to," he said at the time. Except for creative assignments, "the whole marketing services industry is dysfunctional globally," he added.
Mr. Merrihue was not able to return phone calls by deadline. Kellogg has not yet announced his successor.
