Kelly named CEO at AmEx Publishing

In a move that surprised few onlookers, Ed Kelly on June 5 was named president-CEO of American Express Publishing Corp., New York. Mr. Kelly, 43, succeeds Daniel Brewster, who became president-CEO of Gruner & Jahr USA Publishing that same day. Mr. Kelly has spent more than 11 years at AmEx, most recently overseeing the Travel & Leisure Group as senior VP-group publisher. He was considered by many observers to be the leading CEO candidate when Mr. Brewster's departure was announced.
