NAIROBI--As part of a broader effort to curb cigarette smoking in Kenya, members of the country's Parliament have introduced a bill that would outlaw cigarette-related advertising starting next year.

The proposed legislation would also require public places to set aside a designated non-smoking areas.

If the proposed legislation became a law, Kenya would be the first country in eastern central Africa to ban cigarette advertising.
