(May 31, 2001) BEIJING -- Fast food giant KFC opened its Chinese-language Web site today and begun offering electronic coupons to consumers nationwide.

ChinaKFC.com is jointly opened by KFC and Sohu, one of China's three largest Internet portals. Its establishment is regarded as an important milestone for KFC after 14 years of successful trading on the Chinese mainland. According to a report by Sohu, the move marks KFC's attempt to explore a new channel for serving its consumers.

KFC has more than 400 outlets in some 100 cities on the Chinese mainland.-- From our China correspondent
