KFC spiffs up its fries

Published on .

Scott's Restaurants, which operates Kentucky Fried Chicken fast-food outlets across Canada, has introduced an improved french fry with an accompanying ad campaign that admits its previous fries were not so hot. TV spots created by Ogilvy & Mather, Toronto, and Academie-Ogilvy, Montreal, show a family sitting down to dine on Kentucky Fried Chicken, and as the father reveals each dish (chicken pieces, chicken nuggets, salads), it is greeted by cheers. Then he pulls out a box of fries and the family is quiet, until he tells them these are new crispier fries--whereupon the family cheers.
