Noel Cottrell Hire Follows Other San Francisco Agency Appointments

By Published on .

SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- While a number of San Francisco agencies have hired new creative leadership to take them into the new year, Kirshenbaum, Bond & Partners West has hired a creative director destined to tower over all of them.

6 foot 9
Noel Cottrell, at 6 feet 9 inches, has been named executive creative director of the independent shop. At the same time, Jeff Musser, 37, managing partner and creative partner who had been with the shop since March 1999, has left, a spokeswoman for the agency said.

Mr. Cottrell in 1988 opened a shop in South Africa called Joe Public Advertising, said Kirshenbaum West's managing partner, Nigel Carr. Mr. Cottrell sold his shop to Interpublic Group of Cos. and later worked in the Sourth Africa and New York offices of Interpublic's Foote, Cone & Belding Worldwide, Mr. Carr said.

Other moves
A number of other San Francisco shops in recent weeks have hired creative directors, including Omnicom Group's DDB Worldwide, San Francisco, which hired Lisa Bennett for the new post of executive vice president and executive creative director, the same title she held while at Publicis Groupe's Leo Burnett USA. FCB, meanwhile, hired former Wieden & Kennedy creative director Michael Prieve as its new executive creative director.
