Kmart taps Don Coleman shop

Kmart Corp. named Don Coleman & Associates, Bingham Farms, Mich., agency of record for its estimated $5 million African-American account. Kmart's previous African-American agency, Burrell Communications, Chicago, resigned to work for Sears, Roebuck & Co. Finalists were Chisholm-Mingo Group, New York, and Carol H. Williams Advertising, Oakland, Calif. Coleman will partner with Campbell Mithun Esty, Kmart's advertising agency of record, to create integrated marketing programs. Castor Advertising, New York, handles Kmart's Hispanic account.
