American Express Travel Related Services and Knowledgebase Marketing, Chapel Hill, N.C., have partnered to develop customer acquisition, loyalty programs and data warehousing services for AmEx merchants, tapping into Knowledgebase's databases. The partnership has raised concern among privacy groups since it employs the use of individuals' credit card purchase records. However, an AmEx spokeswoman said the company doesn't sell or provide individual transaction information to any third party for marketing purposes.

Royal Mail U.S., New York, the business-to-business international mail unit of the British post office, tapped OgilvyOne Worldwide for U.S. advertising and direct marketing. Grey Promotions previously handled.

Gruppo, Levey & Capell, an investment banker to the direct marketing industry, announced several key additions to its executive team: Mark DeGennaro to managing director, from senior legal counsel at law firm White & Case; Karen Burka to VP, from editorial director, Simba Information; and Alec Ireland to VP, from senior manager of business development, Campbell Soup Co. All are new posts.

Marketing Services Group, New York, a direct marketing fulfillment company, has launched Metro Fulfillment in Los Angeles. The new interactive subsidiary will provide existing clients with a wide range of Internet capabilities in addition to services such as database management and analysis, customer service, fulfillment and distribution.
