Kodak acquires PictureVision

Published on .

Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y., purchased the outstanding shares of its majority owned PictureVision, furthering Kodak's commitment to online photo services. Kodak sees the $90 million acquisition as an opportunity to roll out online products and services more quickly. Before the buyout, Kodak had a 51% stake in PictureVision, which provides the network infrastructure to send and store images through Kodak PhotoNet online and Kodak's "You've Got Pictures'' partnership with America Online. Willy Shih, senior VP-president of digital and applied imaging at Kodak, will be CEO of PictureVision.
