Kraft's Eckert tapped as Mattel CEO

Published on .

Robert Eckert resigned as president-CEO of Kraft Foods, Northfield, Ill., to take the reins at Mattel, El Segundo, Calif., effective immediately. Mr. Eckert, 45, a 23-year veteran of the Philip Morris Cos. unit, succeeds former Mattel CEO Jill Barad, who was forced to resign in February amid turmoil at the toy marketer that included sales declines and departures of senior staff. Succeeding Mr Eckert at Kraft is Betsy Holden, 44, from exec VP responsible for consumer insights and communications (formerly marketing services), operations, research and development, procurement, and e-commerce. Irene Rosenfeld, 47, currently exec VP of Kraft and president of Kraft Canada, will assume Ms. Holden's responsibilities while retaining oversight of Kraft's Canadian business.
