L.L. BEAN WILL DEBUT $25 MIL TV, PRINT PUSH

L.L. Bean next month launches a $25 million TV and print campaign, its first advertising from Mullen, Wenham, Mass. The cataloger will tout its new positioning: "Start here. Go anywhere." TV spots bow April 5 and run for six weeks in prime time. Six print ads will run in 49 consumer magazines. Mullen won L.L. Bean's branding assignment last June.

Harte-Hanks Response Management, Austin, Texas, is linking with Communique Direct, a Sydney-based direct response company, to market Harte-Hanks services to shared and prospective clients in Australia and New Zealand. Dell Computer Australia will be among the first companies to use the services. Harte-Hanks has provided Dell Computer Corp. with outbound teleservices and online program management and fulfillment since January 1997 in the U.S.

John Yeck, 86, founder of Yeck Bros. Co. and chairman emeritus of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation, died Feb. 23. Mr. Yeck was a longtime Direct Marketing Association board member.
