LeBron James slams home the exclamation point in the NBA's new "Jingle Hoops" commercial promoting "BIG Logo" sleeved jerseys and other holiday-themed NBA gear from Adidas.
The spot called "Jingle Hoops" from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners is the sequel to last year's "Big Color" spot that drew 8 million views on YouTube, according to Jamie Gallo, the NBA's exec VP-marketing.
Last year's spot by Goodby showed NBA stars dribbling basketballs to create the Christmas tune, "Carol of the Bells."
This year, we see the Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant, the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose, the Houston Rockets' James Harden, the Los Angeles Lakers' Steve Nash and the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry shooting 3-pointer at hoops festooned with bells. As one shot after another goes through the nets, they play "Jingle Bells." (Fun fact: "Jingle Bells" was originally published under the title "One-Horse Open Sleigh" and was meant to be sung at Thanksgiving.)
Suddenly LeBron comes swooping in from off-camera. Nash feeds him a pass off the backboard -- and James slams it home. "Please tell me the camera was on," says King James as his colleagues crack up.
