Lee, Tarfikoff form new TV team

Published on .

Filmmaker Spike Lee and Brandon Tartikoff, former chairman of NBC Entertainment, will create a new primetime series for ABC. The only details of the yet-to-be-named show that were announced were that it will feature two male characters, one white and one black, and that it will be shot on film (like "Seinfeld"), not vidoetape (like "Home Improvement"). Mr. Lee will write and direct the pilot, and be executive producer of the series. Mr. Tartikoff, who was most recently chairman of New World Entertainment, will co-executive produce the show and his H. Beale Co. will produce it. The series, which has a six-episode commitment, is slated for the 1997-98 TV season.
