(April 27, 2001) -- BCom3 Group's Leo Burnett USA is closing the Boston office of its Leo Burnett Technology Group and merging its remaining operations into the company's Chicago headquarters May 4.

The Boston shop's headcount had been shrinking since a high of 55 in November to the current staff of 12. Four of those remaining staff were offered options to transfer to Chicago and the rest were offered severance packages, the company confirmed.

"Changes in the tech sector have caused us to accelerate our plans to bring our very best people with business-to-business experience together with our business-to-consumer experts," Brad Brinegar, Burnett's USA chairman and CEO, said in a statement. "This will provide a holistic and compelling service offering to current and prospective technology clients."
