CHICAGO (AdAge.com) -- As its parent Bcom3 Group nears closing its sale to Publicis Groupe, Leo Burnett Worldwide has begun to take some early steps to bundle its marketing services units under a common global network, according to executives with knowledge of the move.

Already, Burnett's Chemistri interactive unit is being aligned under the Leo Burnett Customer Group, and its co-CEOs, Chris Miller and Karl Karlenzig, are leaving the unit after a brief consulting period.

Neither executive returned calls and customer group executives referred calls to a spokeswoman.

Details to follow
"Leo Burnett is currently in the process of reevaluating its digital, direct and database capabilities," a spokeswoman said. "An announcement detailing the new structure, leadership and offering is expected in the coming month or so. It would be premature to comment further, so no further information is available at this time."

The status of other units, including Semaphore Partners and Starcom IP, is still unclear, but most observers expect those units to be consolidated as well.

Bcom3 shareholders are scheduled to meet Sept. 20 to vote on the pending sale, after which time the new ownership could launch cost-cutting or other reorganizational efforts.
