The Library of Congress today unveiled a new Web site for kids (americaslibrary.gov
) and the library's first public service advertising campaign, which will promote the site. The campaign created by Advertising Council agency DDB
Worldwide, Chicago, is due to break May 1. It will include several spots with kids unsuccessfully trying to play with cutouts of historical figures and then saying it's much easier doing it on the Web site. In one commercial, a child keeps winning in a pingpong game where his opponent is a cutout figure of George Washington. Ad Council President-CEO Peggy Conlan said that TV ads will be complemented by Web banner ads that include streaming video of Thomas Edison's first movie.
