On line giant eBay creates Senior European role

LONDON, SAN JOSE, Calif.--The world's largest person-to-person online trading community, eBay, has created a senior European role to spearhead its recent expansion into Europe.

Michael van Swaaij has been selected from AOL Europe to become eBay's European VP, responsible for the U.K., France, Scandinavia,the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Mr. van Swaaij will continue to work closely with AOL Europe as part of the $75 million global strategic relationship between eBay and AOL signed in March this year.

As regional managing director for AOL Europe, responsible for the CompuServe service in the U.K., Scandinavia, Benelux and Southern Europe, Mr. van Swaaij has gathered extensive experience working on a pan-European level.
