Liquor ads hearing postponed

Published on .

A hearing on liquor TV advertising issues slated for Feb. 11 by the Senate Commerce Committee's telecommunications subcommittee was postponed today until at least the week of Feb. 24 and most likely until early March. The committee cited the need to schedule a number of witnesses. Federal Trade Commission Chairman Robert Pitofsky, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Reed Hundt, industry critics including former Sen. George McGovern, official spokesman of the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, and representatives of the beer, liquor, broadcast and cable industries are now expected to testify.
