Lohse's NetWeb acquires SmartClicks

Published on .

San Francisco digital start-up NetWeb Corp. announced March 11 that it is acquiring Charlotte, N.C.-based SmartClicks, the No. 2 ad exchange network behind LinkExchange. NetWeb, founded by former Softbank Forums President William Lohse, will offer services including advertising sales, marketing, Web hosting and e-commerce.

The premise behind NetWeb, President-CEO Lohse explained, is to reach the "rest of the Web," those not included in the top 10 trafficked Web sites, and help those Web site publishers increase traffic and revenue. The SmartClicks network, which has attracted 32,000 members in the past year, will continue to operate as a separate unit of NetWeb.
