LookSmart signs letter of intent to acquire an e-commerce company

Internet directory LookSmart, San Francisco has signed a letter of intent to acquire an e-commerce company, which could help the company generate up to $20 million in revenues in '99, according to Val Landi, VP-marketing and media services at LookSmart. Mr. Landi would not go into details about the acquisition, other than it will be help support the small business offerings on the local Web city guides from Cox Communications, a LookSmart investor and partner. The acquisition is expected to be announced in the next few weeks.
