Lotus and O&M finally working together

IBM Corp., as expected, moved Lotus Development Corp.'s $20 million to $30 million worldwide account to IBM agency Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide. IBM fired Lotus North American shop Hill Holliday Connors Cosmopulos, Boston, and a number of agencies handling global assignments. Hill Holliday worked with Lotus on and off since the software company's start in 1982 and created the theme "Working Together..

Despite probable benefits of aligning Lotus under the powerful IBM umbrella, IBM initially left the account alone as part of its effort to give Lotus managers some independence, although Ogilvy has been pressing for the business. With pressure growing on IBM to make its Lotus deal pay off, it finally made its move.
