Lowe buys stake in Canadian agency

TORONTO--U.K.-based Lowe Group has bought a minority stake in Toronto creative hot shop Roche Macaulay & Partners and is merging it with Lowe's Canadian office, Lowe SMS, also of Toronto. The merged agency will have combined billings of $60 million and a staff of 70. Gary Prouk, chairman and creative of Lowe SMS, is leaving the agency.

The new agency will continue to operate under the name Roche Macaulay & Partners and will be headed by current President Geoffrey Roche and Senior Vice President Andrew Macaulay.

Roche's client list includes the furniture chain IKEA, Pharma drug stores, the Canadian Egg Marketing Agency and Petro-Canada. Lowe SMS' clients include Sony Canada, Citibank, Time Warner, Braun, Mercedes-Benz, Ralston Purina and Diet Coke.
