Lowe links up with Swiss agency

BASEL, Switzerland -- Lowe & Partners World- wide has partnered with a second advertising agency in Switzerland, GGK Basel. Lowe took a substantial shareholding in the agency, which will change its name to Lowe GGK.

Lowe's existing partner in Switzerland, Bosch & Butz, will remain within the Lowe Group as a stand-alone operation, utilizing the network's resources when needed.

Lowe GGK will continue to operate under its existing management team of Chief Executive Martin Denecke, Creative Director Mark Stahel, Client Managing Director Kurt Schmid and Managing Director Mati Meier.

GGK Basel was founded in 1959. It is a full-service agency, headquartered in Zurich with its original office remaining in Basel. It has a staff of 58 and billings of more than $47 million. It's the country's 11th largest agency, according to Ad Age records. Its main clients include the Swiss publishing group CASH, Migros supermarkets, Canon, Elmex toothpaste, Hermestas sweeteners and Lange watches.

Jerry Judge, chief executive of Lowe & Partners Europe, says, ``We're delighted that GGK has joined us, not only because it will add strength to our operations in Switzerland, but also because we can reunite the agency with its previous partners, Lowe GGK in Austria and Central/Eastern Europe.''
