M&C Saatchi is rolling out a new e-commerce service to clients, indicating that advertising agencies are beginning to recognize that the Internet is challenging the use of traditional media.

eMCSaatchi will include Web and platform design, back-end development, distribution advice and consultancy.

"There is overwhelming demand from both established and new brands for this offering," says Nick Hurrell, joint chief executive of M&C Saatchi, who will be the consultancy's new chairman.

A chief executive, yet to be named, will join in January. The company has 10 employees and is working with three unnamed clients.

eMCSaatchi will charge consultancy fees with revenue calculated basedon the success of the clients' e-commerce transactions.
